Leadership Fauquier: 2026-2027 Program Year

Leadership Fauquier is a county-wide leadership development program designed for professionals and community leaders seeking a deeper understanding of the inner workings of Fauquier County, its unique challenges and opportunities, and how to lead effectively within the county. 

Participants learn directly from people and organizations shaping the community through site visits, facilitated discussions, and shared learning experiences. The program brings together leaders from public, private, and nonprofit sectors to build knowledge, skills, and lasting connections through a cohort model. 

Program Experience

During the 2026-2027 program, cohort participants will participate in: 

  •  a two-day opening leadership retreat
  • monthly program days focused on key community systems
  • workshops to build leadership capacity
  • site visits and conversations with local leaders
  • a county-wide bus tour
  • opportunities for reflection, discussion, and applied learning


Program Days explore areas such as: 

  • Government and infrastructure
  • Education and workforce development
  • Housing and economic development
  • Health and human services
  • Public safety
  • Culture, recreation, and human capital
  • Natural resources

Attendance is mandatory at the September Retreat Days and graduation in June.

Participants come from business, healthcare, education, public safety, local government, agriculture, and community organizations. Our alumni include people of all ages, experience levels, and demographics.

Non-Refundable Application Fee: $75
(Waived for applications submitted prior to March 31)
